Beach and Surf

Door-to-beach-towel in two minutes

One of the many charms that encompasses Martha’s Vineyard is its scenic beaches. Hard to believe but an island just over 84 square miles offers 17 each uniquely different beaches. Beaches vary from private to public, shallow to deep. On the northern and eastern sides of the island expect clear-water stretches. Along the south side of the island expect massive yet still inviting stretches of ravishing waves of surf.

Food Scene

Foodie gems & killer lobster rolls

Being surrounded by water, you’d expect Martha’s Vineyard to serve up some of the best local sea food you will ever try, and it does. It's just not seafood, the food scene on our small island is one of the best kept secrets with varieties of all kinds to satisfy your every craving.

Start your morning with fresh baked goods and the boldest craft coffee from any one of the many bakeries on the island. Homemade breads to biscuits; muffins to scones; the virtues to satisfy your morning hunger are endless. Follow the direction your nose points you in. For lunch crack open that lobster while sitting at one of those worn and sand crusted wooden tables that can be found all over town. If you’re feeling a bit more polished, have that lobster served to you atop fine china at one of the many fine dining local eateries. Watch oil spots take over that brown paper bag filled with fried clam cakes while strolling the pier or enjoy freshly chucked oysters with cocktails overlooking the lighthouses. Whether you want high or low brow, the vineyard offers it all. Check out our island map and see some of our personal favorites.

Yoga & Exercise

Mind body health with seaside air

After experiencing all of the fun and nightlife you might wake up the next morning finding yourself wanting to “Zen-Out". Many come to the island for relaxation and restorative getaways. In the work hard play hard mentality, it's all about balance. Perhaps Yoga and Pilates on the beach while soaking up the morning rays. Or rejuvenate yourself with a custom massage as waves crash in the background. Whether you want to push yourself with some endurance heavy CrossFit or practice your calm with meditation you’ll find a wide variety of health and wellness centers on our island. There is something for everyone at every level, everyday.

Quirky, brewstastic and live music

No matter what time of year you visit us there is always sure to be something exciting happening on our island. In the summer months the Vineyard turns up the volume of its nightlife scene to the likes of New York City. Rooftop and patio bars that overlook the ocean and lighthouses are a hot commodity that are Instagram worthy. Film and wine festivals give the island some quirk. Art and history museums, theatre showcases and live music almost daily creates an immersive one of a kind experience of all the different cultures. Check out our island map and see some of our favorite things to do.

Sporty

Thrill seekers and sports enthusiasts alike grow to call the Vineyard their favorite playground. Biking is most peoples preferred means of transportation on the island and there are a dozen of shops where you can rent bikes from $25/day. Get around and enjoy scenic views or race down more than 44 miles of trail to fix that adrenaline craving. If your pace is a bit slower, charter a sailboat, take on a fishing lesson with a pro, paddleboard in the harbor or get a birds eye view of the entire island while parasailing at over 600 ft high in the sky.

Culture & History

Dating all the way back to the early 1600’s, history on the Vineyard is deep. Visit the Martha’s Vineyard Museum or the Aquinnah Cultural Center to learn about the islands indigenous past. Walk through the enchanting Polly Hill Arboretum where you will discover a classic Vineyard landscape that has held its connection all the way from 1670. Wander through over 180 historic Gingerbread cottages, an experience that will transport you back to your childhood imagination. If spooky is more your style, guided group ghost tours are popular in the evening but proceed at your own risk.
